The Editor
Ron Hammond
Early-to-mid 40s
Slate blazer, cuffed jeans, glasses — business casual with emotional chaos underneath
The specific look of someone running a serious operation while taking care of everyone in it
He and Ryan dress identically and both know it
Ron is the emotionally intelligent editor who accidentally became Ryan's gay divorced uncle and would die before admitting how much he loves her. He is perpetually exasperated and completely devoted in equal measure. He says "ABSOLUTELY NOT" and immediately texts the number anyway. He is the character who ensures Ryan eats, has a purpose, and is publicly recognized for her talent.
Ron is Ryan's editor and found family in Anatomy of Release — the champion who insists it is professional, the man whose POV chapters deliver some of the novel's sharpest observations, and the character readers love more every time they re-read.
