This is “Root and Rise” — downtown Oklahoma City at night, photographed when I first moved here, around 2014, back when I used to walk through the city making images just for myself.
Before Oklahoma City became part of Ryan Callahan’s story, it was part of mine: unfamiliar streets, lit windows, quiet wandering, and the strange pull of a place that hadn’t yet explained why it mattered.
