Root & Rise

Description

Chapter 7: Root and Rise

Before a place becomes home, it becomes a question.</em>

This is “Root and Rise” — downtown Oklahoma City at night, photographed when I first moved here, around 2014, back when I used to walk through the city making images just for myself.

Before Oklahoma City became part of Ryan Callahan’s story, it was part of mine: unfamiliar streets, lit windows, quiet wandering, and the strange pull of a place that hadn’t yet explained why it mattered.

A fine art print for the ones who know that sometimes you begin rooting long before you realize you’ve stopped running.

Matted and ready to frame. Printed and finished by hand.

Part of the Anatomy of Release Chapter Art Collection.
